Meet the Principal Consultant

 My Interpreting Service is led by Mylinda Klein, a consultant, educator, mentor, Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP), and nationally certified ASL-English interpreter whose work centers on understanding complex people, communication, organizations, and systems.

For more than three decades, Mylinda’s work has developed across education, interpreting, mentoring, assessment, professional learning, communication access, and systems-focused practice, with consulting and rehabilitation now expanding that work into new professional contexts. 

Drawing from systems thinking, mathematics, language and communication, mentoring, assessment, rehabilitation, ethical reasoning, and organizational practice, she looks for patterns and relationships that may not be visible from within one part of a system.

Her work focuses on bringing greater clarity to complex situations, interpreting across perspectives and systems, identifying meaningful opportunities for change, and strengthening the capacity, autonomy, and participation of the people and organizations involved.

 My work spans several areas of professional practice that may stand independently or intersect depending on the needs of the individual, team, organization, or system.

Across these areas, I draw from multiple disciplines and professional experiences to understand complex situations, interpret across perspectives and systems, identify patterns and leverage points, and strengthen clarity, participation, capacity, and autonomy.

 My professional journey has brought together several ways of understanding people, learning, communication, organizations, and systems.

My background in mathematics taught me to think in terms of variables, relationships, patterns, systems, and how changes in one part of a system can influence the whole.

Teaching and mentoring deepened that perspective by showing me how people develop knowledge, judgment, confidence, and greater independence through reflection, scaffolding, assessment, and guided learning.

Work in consulting and rehabilitation strengthened my understanding of how individuals, professionals, organizations, and service systems interact — and how roles, expectations, resources, communication, and decision-making can shape outcomes.

My background in ASL, Deaf communities, interpreting, and language access adds a specialized lens for understanding meaning, communication, linguistic access, and what happens when people or systems are not aligned.

Together, these experiences have become an integrated way of working: look broadly, interpret what is happening across people and systems, identify patterns and leverage points, and help build the capacity to move forward.

 For more than three decades, my work has centered on helping people understand, participate, learn, navigate complex systems, and move forward with greater confidence and autonomy.

Across education, mentoring, rehabilitation, consulting, communication access, and interpreting, I have seen that meaningful outcomes are shaped by more than a single service or intervention. Relationships, information, expectations, resources, environments, professional practices, and larger systems all influence what becomes possible.

Over time, this led me to focus increasingly on the conditions surrounding the individual, professional, team, or organization — not simply the immediate problem in front of them.

That evolution now informs work in consulting, mentoring, professional learning, rehabilitation services, assessment, systems development, family support, and ASL-English interpreting.

Although the services may differ, the underlying purpose remains consistent:

Provide what is useful now while building the knowledge, capacity, resources, and systems that support greater autonomy over time.

 I believe clarity changes what becomes possible.

When people can better understand the systems, relationships, expectations, information, and decisions shaping a situation, they are better able to participate, make informed choices, and move forward with greater autonomy.

Because of that, I look beyond the most visible problem and consider the larger ecology surrounding it — the people involved, their perspectives and responsibilities, the environment, resources, communication, relationships, and systems influencing the outcome.

I also believe effective support should strengthen capacity rather than create dependency. Whether I am working with an individual, family, professional, team, or organization, my goal is to provide what is useful now while helping build the knowledge, judgment, confidence, resources, and systems that support greater independence over time.

Consulting, mentoring, rehabilitation services, assessment, professional learning, systems development, and ASL-English interpreting are different tools within that broader approach.

At the center of my practice is a commitment to greater understanding, ethical reasoning, autonomy, safety, and the conditions that allow people and systems to grow.

 I founded My Interpreting Service with a simple purpose: to help people understand, participate, and move forward with greater clarity and autonomy.

The work began in interpreting, but the underlying purpose was always larger than language transfer alone. I was helping people understand one another, navigate systems, make meaning across different perspectives, and participate more fully in the situations affecting their lives.

Over time, that same purpose expanded into consulting, mentoring, professional learning, rehabilitation services, assessment, family support, systems development, and ASL-English interpreting.

Today, My Interpreting Service reflects that broader practice: bringing clarity to complex situations, interpreting across people and systems, and building the knowledge, capacity, resources, and relationships that support more effective participation over time.

Although the services may differ, the purpose remains consistent: help people and systems understand more clearly, respond more effectively, and build greater capacity for the future.

My professional background combines systems thinking, language and communication, mentoring, education, rehabilitation, assessment, ethics, and organizational practice.

 My academic and professional preparation includes graduate-level study in ASL linguistics, discourse analysis, leadership, ethics and decision-making, mentoring, and supervision; Master Mentor training through TIEM; an Associate of Applied Science in Interpreter Preparation; and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. 

 These areas contribute complementary lenses to my work. Interpreter preparation and advanced language study deepen my understanding of meaning, context, and communication across perspectives. Mentoring, leadership, ethics, and supervision strengthen how I approach growth, professional reasoning, accountability, and capacity building. Mathematics strengthens systems analysis, pattern recognition, and reasoning across complex relationships. 

My professional credentials include national certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), including the Certificate of Interpretation (CI), Certificate of Transliteration (CT), and Educational Interpreter K–12 Endorsement.

Together, these experiences inform how I examine complex situations, interpret relationships across people and systems, recognize patterns and leverage points, and identify where meaningful support or change may be possible.

 Every partnership begins with understanding the people, systems, goals, and perspectives involved.
