A Lifetime of Building Communication Capacity

A Lifetime of Building Communication Capacity

A Lifetime of Building Communication Capacity

Communication has shaped every stage of my professional journey.

For more than three decades, I have worked alongside Deaf individuals, families, interpreters, educators, administrators, and organizations to strengthen communication access and meaningful participation.

Throughout that journey, I came to realize that communication access cannot be strengthened through interpreting alone. It requires thoughtful collaboration, mentoring, education, assessment, organizational development, and systems that support communication before, during, and after any individual interaction.

That realization became the foundation for My Interpreting Service.

My Philosopy

A Lifetime of Building Communication Capacity

A Lifetime of Building Communication Capacity

I believe communication access is built—not simply provided.

Meaningful communication develops through relationships, knowledge, continual learning, thoughtful decision-making, and strong systems that support people over time.

Rather than viewing interpreting, consulting, mentoring, communication access assessment, and professional learning as separate services, I see them as interconnected ways of strengthening communication capacity.

This philosophy shapes every aspect of my work and continues to guide how I partner with individuals, organizations, and communities.

Meet the Principle Consultant

My career has taken me through many roles, each providing new perspectives on communication access and professional practice.

I began as an educational interpreter and later served as a Lead Interpreter, where I developed a deeper understanding of educational systems, interpreter supervision, mentoring, and program development. Over the years, I have worked as an adjunct instructor, mentor, consultant, evaluator, and presenter, supporting interpreters and organizations throughout Alaska and beyond.

Each experience has reinforced my belief that strong communication access depends not only on individual professionals, but also on the systems, relationships, and knowledge that support them.
